August along the Oregon Coast
August 2011 along the Oregon coast is substantially better than it was last year. Last August consisted or predominant winds, clouds and very cool weather which meant that we hardly ever saw the sun. While most of the time it has been cool, we had some wonderful sunny days and magnificent evening. I think somewhat cooler temperatures in the Oregon interior has helped. While I have generally shot many pictures among the various rocks along the beach, I have never featured these rocks in a sunset before. The wonderful evening glow was more like a September evening, clear and devoid of the distant fog bank that one normally receives in SeptemberThe next morning was equally spectacular, producing some very nice reds. Here is the Coquille River light house along the Coquille with the City of Bandon on the opposite bank.I find it amazing what finds to take images of. Here is an old red book store along Highway 101 just north of the community of Langlois, between Bandon and Port Orford. The setting is made appealing by the combination of red crocosmia's along with the rid sides and rusted roof of the old store.
