Back again
Well, I paid the price for leaving my web site unattended for these last months. One day in early January, I received a message from my web provider that the traffic was unusually high and warned me that if it continued they would have to disable my account. Being rather surprised I visited my web site only to find that it had been seriously hacked by some Islamic Revolutionaries (we are prohibited from referring to them as terrorists) and my web site had become a banner for Jihad. Since their idealogy doesn't necessarily conform to my beliefs I was immediately compelled to make significant changes to the site, its security, passwords, and WordPress theme. I suppose I should have been impressed that whomever took over my site thought it was material enough to even bother. Even though the work over the last month was not how I had planned to spend my time, in the end it was something I had been planning on doing, that is to upgrade the WordPress base system as well as install a new theme. With the my new Fluxus Theme (from Evanto Market's ) now working reasonably well I figured I could start making some posts even though there is still more work to be done. One of the advantages of my new template is that it automatically reformats my web pages for the various smaller devices that people use; ie. tablets and smartphones. I also have to admit that there have been huge improvements in the process of working with WordPress as well as their security (a good thing). One of the this is a product called Visual Composer which inserts performed blocks either into pages or to imbed within posts. The nice thing about Visual Composer is that one does not have to be a programer to take advantage of these various formats that it offers so one can significantly improve the sophistication of the site relatively easily. It is pretty impressive as well as having a significant learning curve. As I become more experienced with that product, expect me to get a little fancy with my posts.I am also planning on broadening out my comments to include some general observations beyond just photograph, although I will continue to mostly write about my thoughts on the subject which I find has grown to be quite opinionated. Some I think you will like and some maybe not. Although I have purposely avoided writing anything about my political ideology, I find that other photographers feel free to do so. Consequently I may allow some of that to sneak into this site, but I will endeavor to keep it low key and as inconsequential as possible. As an aside, I am in the final process of setting up a little gallery at our townhouse in Portland and I also have a web site to support purchases from this gallery. One will be able to either make on-line purchase or or by a visit to our little gallery. It is actually a very nice feature but I have not quite finished the look of the on-line gallery but it should be ready soon. So stay tuned. The image above is from Saturday morning. A sunny day but a very foggy morning. The building is our local superb French Bakery, St. Honore as they work to bake the breads and pastries for that day.
