Cape Arago

Cape Arago is located at the mouth of  Coos Bay and it is a fairly rocky promontory North of Cape Blanco. Actually, it is probably the most significant headland  between either Cape Disappointment, the mouth of the Columbia River and Cape Blanco, with the possible exception of Tillamook Head or Cape Lookout far to the north. Because Cape Argo extends out relative to the coast to the north, it is particularly exposed  to norther storms and high surf warnings. In this picture, the rocks in the middle is the favorite photographic site where the crashing waves from the north slam into that rock and extend its spay far over the view point to the right. It was high tide when I was there on a stormy day, but with not a significant surf. It is my personal belief, that when taking images of wave action, one either uses a high shutter speed to stop the wave action, or use a very low shutter setting to really blue the wave action. As a rule, I don't think anything in the middle, really works.Store :http://www.erpimages.com/detail/1208.html
